Alexa Tip: Verifying Your Device Has the Latest Software Update

Amazon delivers updates to its Alexa devices constantly. Some updates deliver new features, but some are small, delivering only bug fixes and performance enhancements.

You can always check to ensure you have the latest update by verifying your actual device software version against the version Amazon is reporting to be the latest.

Amazon lists the latest software version numbers on the following pages:



To compare that to your own device’s versioning, use the Alexa smartphone app or the web ( and open Settings – find and open the specific device you want to check – and then locate the About section…

Unfortunately, the versioning pages don’t offer a date as to when the latest update was delivered – but they do detail what was updated/added.
