In a recent update, Amazon altered the way timer and alarm information is stored for those times when the Internet is unavailable.
Information about current timers and alarms is stored locally, so that when there are outages, they will still work (as long as the unit has power – which is a great excuse for obtaining a portable battery for your Alexa device see: FREMO or VAUX ). If you want to set new timers or alarms, or ask about pending notifications, you have to wait until the Internet is available again. The only voice command that works offline is the wake word.
