Alexa Tip: Silencing Alexa’s Voice Notification During Internet Outages

Whenever an Alexa device cannot connect to Amazon’s service, you will get a voice notification that she cannot connect to the Internet. If this happens at night, for example during power outages from bad weather, the abrupt voice notification can wake up the entire house.

If you want to eliminate this voice notification, you can use the “Do Not Disturb” feature recently added through the Calling and Messaging feature. Turning on this option will put Alexa into silent mode. You have to do this for each separate device connected to your local network.
