Alexa Skills: When Do the Pickles Expire?

I don’t how many times this has happened to me, but I forget when I purchased a particular grocery item. I’ll go to use it and end up throwing it away just to be safe, afraid that its been sitting too long and is on the dangerous side of a stomach episode.

Fortunately, there’s a new Alexa skill for that. Called Food Manager, you can tell Alexa when you purchase an item, tell her to store the Best by, Use by, or Sell By date and then later have her retrieve the information.

Granted, it takes a lot of work, but much less work than if you had to input all the information using a computer and a spreadsheet. At least now, you can simply issue the voice command and Alexa will store and retrieve the information for you.

Examples of things you can say…

“Alexa, Ask Food Manager to add relish with a Best By date of June 3 2017”
“Alexa, Ask Food Manager to find foods that will reach their package dates today”

Where to get it: You can locate The Food Manager Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: Food Manager

Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Dot, Tap, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with
