Alexa Skills: Set a Seat for Alexa on Family Game Night

Here’s a cool, new third party Alexa skill that our family has already grown to love and you might also find it fun to incorporate into your game night. It’s called Grump GM – or Grumpy Game Master.

As a family, we throw a lot of trash talk around the table when playing board games, cards, etc. It makes it extra fun trying to come up with the best zinger. But, alas, there’s always that one family member that has a tough time being mean-hearted and thought they might intend to blast a family member, it comes out a bit flowery instead.

After enabling the Grumpy GM skill for Alexa, you pose any of the following to Alexa and she responds with a quip…

·         “Alexa, ask Grumpy GM to taunt <family member name>.”

·         “Alexa, tell Grumpy GM to please taunt <family member name>”

·         “Alexa, tell Grumpy GM to please give me a taunt for <family member name>”

The responses are random, unexpected, and most are hilarious. And clean, I might add. We’re a Monty Python-loving family, so it’s always great to hear Grumpy GM randomly pull out a taunt from the French guard in the Holy Grail movie.

You can locate the skill in the Alexa app for Android or iOS – or on the web at:, or by linking here: Grumpy GM by Matt Mitchell
