Alexa Skills: Play a Game of Simon Says

Remember the game of Simon Says?  Like a lemming, you do everything “Simon” says, unless the crowd-sourced “Simon” doesn’t preface the command with his own name. If you mess up, you’re out and everyone keeps playing until there’s a single person left – who then becomes “Simon.” As a kid this could last an hour or so before an argument broke out about whether or not a person was actually “out.” But, it was still good fun and a great game to hone listening skills, not to mention a way for parents to get a group of kids doing something while adult work needed to be done.

A new skill for Alexa may help the resurgence of the old game. SimonSays Game by ViRiVi does a pretty good job attempting to trick game players into messing up. The game is clearly for kids because I don’t know too many adults who will kiss their tummy or crawl around like a baby (actual game play), but hey — I’m not a person to judge.
