Each week, we take a look at new and important Alexa skills you might want to consider enabling for your Alexa device. Amazon continues to improve Alexa with its own updates, but skills are software components that allow Alexa users to extend functionality across all Alexa-enabled devices in use for very specific functions.
Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Echo 2, Dot, Tap, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, Echo Show, Echo Look, Echo Connect, Dash Wand, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Edition TVs, in the Music app, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with Reverb.ai.
This week’s skill: What’s New on Amazon Prime Video (Unofficial)
Description: Daily updates of what’s new on Amazon Prime Video including the new releases, weekly highlights and a complete list of new movies and TV series.
Real world use: Just recently I wrote about several TV and Movie skills by the same skill author, Perfect Indigo. These skills all deliver updates on what’s new across the various streaming services. At the time, the skills available were only for Netflix, HBO, and Hulu. Well, I said only, but those streaming services are completely adequate. For those that love to watch TV for relaxation or entertainment, knowing what’s new and available is treasured.
Now, Perfect Indigo has also added Amazon Prime Video to the mix. When asked, Alexa will deliver a list of what’s been added recently to Amazon Prime Video, essentially rounding out the group of streaming services. I expect more to show up eventually – maybe CBS All-access will be next.
Where to get it: You can locate the What’s New on Amazon Prime Video (Unofficial) Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: What’s New on Amazon Prime Video (Unofficial)
