Alexa Skill of the Week: LINK AKC

Each week, we take a look at new and important Alexa skills you might want to consider enabling for your Alexa device. Amazon continues to improve Alexa with its own updates, but skills are software components that allow Alexa users to extend functionality across all Alexa-enabled devices in use for very specific functions.

Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Echo 2, Dot, Tap, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, Echo Show, Echo Look, Echo Connect, Dash Wand, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Edition TVs, in the Music app, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with Reverb.ai.

This week’s skill: LINK AKC

Description: LINK AKC can help you know your dog’s location, manage your dog’s wellness more. Now you can access some of your LINK AKC features by talking to Alexa. Ask Alexa to get activity, to check yesterday’s activity and how many minutes your dog has left to complete their goal.

Real world use: We really become severely attached to our pets. That’s not a bad thing at all. Pets provide friendship, comfort, and can provide a sense of purpose when everything else seems bleak at times. Its difficult to come home stressed and stay stressed when your little fur baby welcomes you home like it hasn’t seen you in days instead of just hours.

And, with this kinship comes the need to ensure our pets are happy and healthy.

Smart Pet Technologies, LLC is a company that makes GPS-enabled collars for dogs. These collars comes in a variety of feature sets, but all of them deliver information on your dog’s activity and location services in the event your dog gets lost. These smart collars can give you piece of mind and also help you understand how to help your canine be as healthy as they can be.

The company recently delivered an Amazon skill for their collars and service. After linking your account you can ask Alexa for the collected information. You can say things like…

“Alexa, ask Link Collar to check today’s activity”
“Alexa, ask Link Collar to check yesterday’s activity”
“Alexa, ask Link Collar how many minutes until activity goal”

Where to get the skill: You can locate the LINK AKC Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: LINK AKC

Where to get the hardware: LINK AKC Smart Dog Collar – GPS Location Tracker, Activity Monitor
