Alexa Skill of the Week: HealthyMe: Complete Health & Wellness Tracker

Each week, we take a look at new and important Alexa skills you might want to consider enabling for your Alexa device. Amazon continues to improve Alexa with its own updates, but skills are software components that allow Alexa users to extend functionality across all Alexa-enabled devices in use for very specific functions.

This week’s skill: HealthyMe: Complete Health & Wellness Tracker

Description: HealthyMe tracks your daily health and wellness data like your water intake, your total hours of sleep, your height and weight and giving a daily health summary with a rating. It even presents you with a Body Mass Index rating (BMI) based on your height and weight data. You can update your health data anytime and the same will be saved in the database. In case your rating isn’t up to mark in certain areas, you’ll be motivated to get in shape and better your health.

Real world use: Keeping track of your health is an important piece of daily life, but few do it. Thanks to my Garmin device, it’s become an obsession for me. I’m constantly monitoring my food intake, exercise, all day heart rate, resting periods, recovery, etc., etc. The data that’s collected allows me to continually improve and the visual aspect of the reports provides a way to compare successes and failures along the way.  Figuring out what work for each individual is important – because we’re all different. What works for one person, won’t work for another – and vice versa.

This new HealthyMe skill could help others get on the same path. Right now, the skill is all manual voice input. You tell Alexa how many hours you slept, how much water you drank, how much you weigh, your height, and other things. HealthyMe then stores that information so you can request it later on for any recorded date and just as a daily health summary as part of your morning routine.

I talked to the author, and there’s plans to incorporate third-party services like Garmin Connect, MapMyFitness, MyFitnessPal, and others so it can also deliver your automatically collected data and report on it, too.

Where to get it: You can locate the HealthyMe: Complete Health & Wellness Tracker Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: HealthyMe: Complete Health & Wellness Tracker
