Alexa Skill of the Week: Drawit

Each week, we take a look at new and important Alexa skills you might want to consider enabling for your Alexa device. Amazon continues to improve Alexa with its own updates, but skills are software components that allow Alexa users to extend functionality across all Alexa-enabled devices in use for very specific functions.

Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Echo 2, Dot, Tap, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, Echo Show, Echo Look, Echo Connect, Dash Wand, Amazon Cloud Cam, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Edition TVs, in the Music app, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with Reverb.ai.

This week’s skill: Drawit

Description: An interactive game for kids, family and friends! Get your pens and paper ready and ask Alexa to start a new game. Alexa will start giving you instructions to draw something from the some very easy to more difficult objects. Once she’s done you’ll have the chance to guess – but be sure to be the first to try and guess. If you know what you created before, just tell for example “Alexa, it’s a house”.

Real world use: Its always awesome to see Alexa skill builders think differently. This latest Drawit skill is one of those. My youngest daughter loves to create and loves to draw. So, this skill is of particular interest to her. Not only can she fulfill her drawing itch, but she learns to listen, follow instructions, and has the reward of accomplishment and determining if her efforts were correct.

Things you can say…

“Alexa open Draw It”
“Alexa tell Draw It to start a game”
“Alexa tell Draw It to play”

Where to get it: You can locate the Drawit Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: Drawit
