Alexa Skill of the Week: Destiny 2 Ghost

Each week, we take a look at new and important Alexa skills you might want to consider enabling for your Alexa device. Amazon continues to improve Alexa with its own updates, but skills are software components that allow Alexa users to extend functionality across all Alexa-enabled devices in use for very specific functions.

Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Echo 2, Dot, Tap, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, Echo Show, Echo Look, Echo Connect, Dash Wand, Amazon Cloud Cam, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Edition TVs, in the Music app, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with Reverb.ai.

This week’s skill: Destiny 2 Ghost

Description: Introducing one of Alexa’s most innovative and integrated skills to date for a live video game: The Destiny 2 Ghost Skill. This new skill seamlessly connects the world of Destiny 2 with enabled Amazon Alexa devices via real-time voice commands. The Ghost Skill brings your in-game Ghost companion to life, giving you an exciting new way to play and interact with the Destiny 2 game on PS4, Xbox One or PC. It’s the first of its kind to integrate across multiple gameplay features of a video game, connecting you to the massive, exciting world of Destiny 2 in real life.

Real world use: This could be one of the first truly interactive Alexa skills as it provides voice-commands for playing Destiny 2 Ghost in real time. I’ve seen videos before of ideas and prototypes around this type of functionality, but nothing ever coalesced officially. So, this skill takes things to the next level.

Obviously, it requires this skill and an Alexa device to be handy, but if this works out, we could see Alexa capability built into gaming headsets or as part of the gaming console.

Things you can say…

“Alexa, ask ghost for my clan summary.”
“Alexa, ask ghost for my next milestone.”
“Alexa, ask ghost to equip my best weapon.”

But, these are just an extreme sample. According to Bungie, the skill and game developer, there’s over 1,000 voice commands to discover.

Where to get it: You can locate the Destiny 2 Ghost Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: Destiny 2 Ghost
