Alexa Skill of the Week: Categories Game

Each week, we take a look at new and important Alexa skills you might want to consider enabling for your Alexa device. Amazon continues to improve Alexa with its own updates, but skills are software components that allow Alexa users to extend functionality across all Alexa-enabled devices in use for very specific functions.

Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Dot, Tap, Echo Show, Echo Look, Dash Wand, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Edition TVs, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with Reverb.ai.

This week’s skill: Categories Game

Description: Categories Game is a fast-paced word game. In this game, you will be presented with different categories and asked to come up with a word that begins with a certain letter in each category. Stimulate your grey matter in this engaging game!

Real world use: This is a fun game and a bonified time waster. Categories Game will remind game players of Scrabble or Scattergories. Alexa selects the category and asks for a word that begins with a specific letter. You come up with the word and Alexa congratulates you and moves on to another category. Sometimes the answers are easy, sometimes pretty difficult. Play through timed rounds and get scores. If you’re really good, you might show up on the accompanying leader board at:  https://www.categories-game.com/

Where to get it: You can locate the Categories Game Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: Categories Game
