Alexa Skill of the Week: Amazonian News

Each week, we take a look at new and important Alexa skills you might want to consider enabling for your Alexa device. Amazon continues to improve Alexa with its own updates, but skills are software components that allow Alexa users to extend functionality across all Alexa-enabled devices in use for very specific functions.

Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Echo 2, Dot, Tap, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, Echo Show, Echo Look, Echo Connect, Dash Wand, Amazon Cloud Cam, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Edition TVs, in the Music app, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with

This week’s skill: Amazonian News

Description: This skill is for Amazon employees to hear the latest news such as product launches, Amazon Studios’ releases, company events, and more

Real world use: While the description says this News Briefing skill is for Amazon employees, its also available for anyone interested in what’s going on at Amazon – and truly that’s always quite a lot. If you follow the news regularly, you know there’s always something new happening with this company and that it is growing at a crazy rate. And, not just growing the business, but the company is also growing an interested fanbase, much like Apple, Microsoft and others have accumulated over the decades.

If you want to keep up on Amazon company and product news, this is the skill to use.

I feel like I’m cheating the system a bit this week, offering just a Flash Briefing as a Skill-of-the-Week, but honestly, there’s been very little else of value added to the Skill store recently.

Where to get it: You can locate the Amazonian News Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: Amazonian News
