Alexa-enabled Product of the Week: Spark: Smart Speaker and Entertainment Hub

With Alexa’s ever-increasing popularity, new Alexa-enabled products deliver almost daily. Some are duds – some are interesting and valuable. When new and interesting products are available, we take a look at new and important Alexa add-on hardware you might want to consider adding to your Alexa device farm.

Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Echo 2, Dot, Tap, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, Echo Show, Echo Look, Echo Connect, Dash Wand, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Edition TVs, in the Music app, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with Reverb.ai.

This week’s hardware: Spark: Hi-Fi Smart Speaker & FHD Entertainment Hub

Description: Clazio Spark combines leading voice technologies, top content providers, and premium audio to create the smartest home device available. Uncompromising audio & video quality – a wireless Hi-Fi speaker, internet radio, and android tablet in one.

Features:

  • Built in Amazon ALEXA and Ok Google compatibility
  • Powered By Android 7.0 Nougat OS
  • 7-inch 2K Full HD Touchscreen
  • Bluetooth and WiFi connected
  • Portable and Rechargeable
  • Endless apps to download from Google Play store
  • 5MP front camera
  • Octa-core processor

Specs:

  • Touch Screen Android Speaker compatible with Amazon Alexa and Ok Google. Powered By Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
  • Li-Poly 4,800 mAh battery. Support up to 5 hours of Music play back and 4 hours for video.
  • 59″ x 7.48″ x 4.33″ (193mm x 190mm x 110mm), 1.763 pounds (0.8kg)

Real world use: This is clearly an Echo Show clone, but one that can work simultaneously with Google Home and Alexa. And, that might actually be the selling point, allowing customers to take advantage of both AI experiences. And, of course, it’s a bit more aesthetically pleasing than the Echo Show – which looks little more than an old radio box housing with a screen shoved inside.

Truly interesting is that the UI is a tiled interface – similar to how Microsoft designed its mobile phone environment before ending it.

Where to get the hardware: Spark is part of an Indiegogo campaign and “backers” can obtain one of these when they start shipping for the lowest backer price of $169. The company has promised to start shipping the Spark in December 2017. Join the campaign here: Spark: Hi-Fi Smart Speaker & FHD Entertainment Hub
