A light patch Tuesday gives you more time to prepare for mandatory PKI changes

You may think you’re getting off pretty easy during the next Microsoft patch cycle – and you are – kind of.  This is more of a preparation warning than anything else, and a reminder that in October Microsoft will start blocking access to all digital certificate keys shorter than 1,024 bits.

So, take advantage of a “quiet” September to make sure your environment’s secure server certificates are up-to-date.

As note in the following article, the update that will change everything has been available since August from Microsoft as an optional update, but will become mandatory next month.  BE PREPARED!  You have been warned.
