Amazon Adds iCloud Calendar with Alexa But Requires Two-Factor Authentication

After offering integration with Outlook.com, Exchange, and Google calendars, Amazon today has launched the ability for Alexa owners to connect and sync their iCloud calendars. Amazon states this is the feature completion of one of the most hotly suggested updates. However, there is one caveat – which is probably why the iCloud integration took extra time – customers have to setup two-factor authentication to make it work. To link your iCloud calendar to Alexa, you’ll need to use two-factor authentication, which is a security feature for Apple accounts. It requires you to enter both your Apple account password and a verification code each time you want to access and manage your account information on your devices. The long set of details on how to get this working are here...

Microsoft Enables Centralized Deployment of Office 365 Add-ins

Today Microsoft has publicly launched a new Centralized Deployment dashboard where Office 365 administrators can deploy Office web add-ins from a central location. After deployment, the user only needs to open the app to take advantage of the new functionality. From the Office 365 admin center or by using PowerShell scripts, administrators can deploy Office web add-ins to individual users, groups or an organization with ease, using Centralized Deployment. Users can simply open Office applications—such as Word, Excel or PowerPoint on Windows, Mac or Office Online—to see the add-ins installed on their ribbon. This allows organizations—large and small—to easily extend Office with high-value services across all platforms. Details: Announcing general availability of the Office 365 Centralized D...

Alexa Skills: Alexa, Ask President Trump What is the Definition of Covfefe

Through delivering webinars and providing best practices content, Amazon has been working hard to ensure that developers can get their skills certified in a timely manner. In the latest example, an Alexa skill developer may have set the record from development to certification, as a new skill has been released to the Alexa skills catalog just hours after a news piece hit the wires. Around midnight on May 31, 2017 President Trump delivered a new tweet, this one apparently the victim of a bad spellcheck. The tweet: “Despite the constant negative press covfefe“ The tweet has since been deleted, but not until it sent the Internet ablaze. Reddit exploded with redditors trying to come up with the best definition for the word “covfefe.” But, from the time the tweet was sen...

Review: iXCC Third-party Type Cover for Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4

A few weeks ago, a family member sat their Surface Pro 3 keyboard on a working toaster. This resulted in some melted keys. I wanted to grab another keyboard quickly, but noticed that Microsoft is currently only offering its high-end Alcantra material option. I’ve tried this keyboard out and its simply not worth the $160 price tag. So, I set about looking for a third-party option. Moko makes one, but I ended up with the one from iXCC to test. The iXCC version is similar to the one from Moko – in fact they look identical in features – but the one from iXCC is about $10 cheaper. What I ended up realizing is that there’s not a third-party keyboard that takes advantage of the Surface Pro’s keyboard connector slot.  Its possible that Microsoft doesn’t supply i...
