If You Upgraded to ConfigMgr 1610 Before December 20, You Need This Fix

Microsoft has released an interoperability update for those customers that upgraded to System Center Configuration Manager 1610 prior to December 20, 2016. Those that upgraded prior to the date will experience several issues primarily with the CAS and with the client software. The fixes in this interoperability update are now already included in the fixed upgrade made available after December 20. Microsoft may have killed off the Microsoft Management Summit in an attempt to build a ready-made sales audience at Ignite, but the memories remain of one of the most successful conferences of recent times. Why was it so successful? Well… because it wasn’t originally started by Microsoft. Go figure. Fortunately, we now have IT/Dev Connections to take up the slack. Last Reminder – December’s Free ConfigMgr Report is Computer Service Details

Make sure to request your copy of this month’s free ConfigMgr report by using your business address and emailing Info AT Enhansoft today! The Computer Service Details report is useful when you need to quickly review the status of each service installed on a PC. For example, if you need to track down PCs that don’t have McAfee service installed, you can review the list of services that are installed on an individual PC to see if it has McAfee (or an alternate anti-virus software) before taking any action.

December Security and Quality Rollups Introduce Problems with the .NET Framework

Two of the updates made available by Microsoft in December (3210137 and 3210138) have produced issues with the .NET Framework. The company is aware of the problem and has provided a KB article with a workaround. Per the KB article (KB3214106)… The December 13, 2016, Security and Quality Rollups updates 3210137 and 3210138 contain a known issue that affects the .NET Framework 4.5.2 running on Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows Server 2012. The issue was also present in the November 15, 2016, rollup updates that were superseded by the December updates. This article contains a workaround for this issue.  Incidentally, 3210138 is a “quality” rollup. Kelverion Runbook Studio now available via the Microsoft Azure Market Place

Kelverion have this week released a new VM to the Microsoft Azure Marketplace for the Kelverion Runbook Studio for Azure Automation. This Azure Market Place VM provides an installed version of the Kelverion Runbook Studio, licencing server for Kelverion Integration Modules and tutorials for authoring with Runbook Studio and a sample runbook for using the Integration Modules for ServiceNow and SQL Server. The sample Runbook provides an OMS Alert to ServiceNow Incident Ticket Creation example.   The Kelverion Runbook Studio provides rich graphical authoring of Azure Automation Runbooks without the need for a permanent internet connection. Microsoft Quietly Reveals Manual Update for Windows 10 to Fix VMM Issue Introduced Last Week

Microsoft has now unveiled a new cumulative update with a December 20, 2016 time stamp. This update is available as a stand-alone package and isn’t part of the automated Windows Update mechanism. According to the just-released KB article (KB3213522) – which includes a link to download the update… This update fixes an issue that was introduced in the December 13, 2016 release (KB3206632) in which the Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) installation takes more time than expected, and the installation may fail on the initial attempt. Microsoft Releases Standalone OneDrive Sync Client for Mac, SharePoint Sync to Come in January 2017

Microsoft has made a couple OneDrive related announcements today on its Microsoft Tech Community property. The Microsoft Tech Community is the company’s latest attempt at corralling customers into a central web location. Microsoft committed to improvements to OneDrive sync capability and feature set at Ignite this year. Ignite is the company’s annual mega-marketing event that targets IT Pros and IT Managers.
