System Center Configuration Manager Reporting

System Center Configuration Manager is a great product to collect inventory, but how does this help with your reporting and auditing tasks? To a certain degree it does help, however, it seems to be missing a number of key elements, such as determining: · Who is in the local administrators group? · What local user accounts exist? · What version of SQL Server is installed and where? · Do any workstations have file shares enabled? · Who is connected to a certain printer or network file share? The answer to these questions doesn’t have to be difficult, particularly if you have Enhansoft’s latest version of Enhanced Web Reporting. Enhansoft is pleased to announce the release of Enhanced Web Reporting v5! In Enhanced Web Reporting (EWR) v5, most of our new reports will help organizations underst...

Microsoft OMS Now Requires an Azure Subscription

Microsoft has been putting a lot of effort into its Operations Management Suite (OMS) since it delivered demos to the press at Ignite 2015. Over the course of the last year the company has developed new dashboards that help expose new functional process and services that literally tie on-premises and the Microsoft cloud together. With the release of System Center 2016 this week at Ignite 2016, it’s even more clear that OMS is the cornerstone of the entire suite. As such, Microsoft seems ready to make some money off of it. Today Microsoft has announced new licensing for OMS workspaces that now also requires an Azure subscription. Additionally, the company is deprecating the OMS free tier.  Customers using the free tier will today be met with a message to associate OMS with an Azure subscrip...

Distribution Point (DP) Health Reports

By Garth Jones I’m sometimes asked about how we come up with reporting ideas. Well, our ideas often come from YOU! For example, not long ago I was talking to a client about how Enhanced Web Reporting (EWR) is being used within their environment. During this meeting, it was pointed out that they were looking for a dashboard to help track issues involving several hundred distribution points (DPs) across the world. We loved this idea and started working on a dashboard. In the screenshot below, our first kick at the can, you can clearly see the summary online status of DPs, any deployment issues with DPs and the overall free disk space of DPs. This dashboard is meant to help you understand and identify issues with your applications, software updates, and OS deployment packages to DPs. This das...
