Use System Center Orchestrator to Backup a Hosted WordPress

I recently had some issues with my hosted WordPress (this blog) being hacked. So I wanted to start backing up a local copy and I did not want to do this all manually. A friend of mine (a fellow MVP Islam) also needed something like this for his blog because recently the hosting provider of his WordPress site deleted the entire thing! WordPress on the backend consists of a database and a folder with the actual site files in it. I needed a way to back up the database and the site files. My WordPress database runs on MySQL. I needed a way to do a MySQL Dump of the database. Then the dump needed to be placed into a specific folder before downloading it. So to sum this up I need to somehow backup the MySQL database for my site, place this somewhere so it can be downloaded, delete the previous ...

Windows 8 Hyper-V Requirements

Client Hyper-V is the feature’s proper name and it’s one of my key resons for upgrading to Windows 8. I’m building a portable lab, utilizing a Dell Precision M4700. In order to have access to Windows 8 Hyper-V, you need to install the x64 version of either the Pro or Enterprise edition of the new OS. You must also have a processor that supports Second Level Address Translation (SLAT). SLAT is explained in the SLAT Wiki.  The latests generation of Intel and AMD processors are supported. Check the links later in this post of you are in doubt about your processor. Hyper-V also requires 4GB+ of RAM. Here are some helpful links for futher reading on these topics: Windows 8 Editions Wiki – Shows the OS and processor requirements for Hyper-V How to detirmine if your proces...

Windows 8 Desktop Editions Upgrade/Downgrade Tool

There are a few scenarios that may require you to change from one Windows 8 desktop edition to another. The available Windows 8 desktop editions include Core, Pro and Enterprise. As long as you have a valid license key that covers the edtion that you want to shift to, then this tool may help you out. It looks like I’ll be giving it a try once my new hardware arrives, since I still can’t seem to get access to the Windows 8 Pro source bits. The arrival of my new Dell precision laptop, with Windows 7 Pro installed, has been delayed due to a backlog in customs. While I wait, I’ve been looking for my own workaround to the Windows 8 download issue that I posted the other day. I was able to locate Windows 8 Enterprise source files, but I want to install it on my personal laptop....

Known, unresolved issue with downloading Windows 8

Having some Windows 8 download frustrations? There is a known issue with Windows 8 Upgrade Advisor but there is no known solution at the moment. Since the issue is still unpublished at this point, I’ll post my experience here. On December 25th I purchased a Windows 8 upgrade license key from the following link: https://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com/. The purchase process utilized the Windows 8 Upgrade Advisor. Once the purchase was complete, the download process was initiated. In my case, the following error was displayed. I tried to resolve the issue myself by trying the following actions: Disabling and uninstalling the anti-virus software Downloading from a different computer Verifying BITS (Background Inteligent Transfer Service) was operating as expected Looking for resolutions onl...
