If one major upgrade isn’t enough, Microsoft also included a new version of its .NET Framework in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (1709). This is key information to both developers and IT Pros dealing with older applications that can sometimes be developed requiring a specific .NET version.
.NET Framework version 4.7.1 is the latest and it’s also available as an upgrade for the following platforms:
- Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (included in-box)
- Windows 10 Creators Update
- Windows 10 Anniversary Update
- Windows 8.1
- Windows 7 SP1
- Windows Server 2016
- Windows Server 2012 R2
- Windows Server 2012
- Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
For those considering upgrading systems to Windows 10 1709, make sure to test legacy apps to ensure they will work correctly with the latest Windows version.
.NET Framework upgrades have been the source of pain for organizations for years. It doesn’t escape the irony that this new version is being delivered during the Halloween season.
