MDT 2012 is unable to save bitlocker recovery key to the AD

During OSD we found that the step to enable bitlocker was not storing the recovery key in the AD, this is because sccm won’t process any group policies until the task sequence is complete. To get around this problem you can export HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\FVE and create a package then add a run command line step using that package  to the...

Setup Windows and ConfigMgr using PATCH="%_SMSTSMDataPath%\ fails: 1635

We recently had this error happen when reimaging a Windows 7 machine. %_SMSTSMDataPath% is chosen during OSD by finding the largest drive. The problem is that the variable %_SMSTSMDataPath% is not re-evaluated just before the step Setup windows and ConfigMgr when it boots into Windows so it still uses the drive letter decided in Winpe. Drive letters are determined differently...

I’ve been tasked to create packages for Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox with basic plugins (flash, java),...

How to deal with multiple hash mismatches during OS Deployment

We recently added another distribution point to the mix and for some reason the task sequences started failing getting the following error at different sections: The hash value is not correct. (Error: 80091007; Source: Windows) For each program that does this we found the fix to be Refresh the distribution points, then update the distribution point straight after. This worked...

USMT 4 – Excluding users bug?

For some reason using the /ue:*\Administrator and /uel:90 in the same command USMT would still migrate the Administrator account over. We couldn’t have this as we are using /md:*\Domain (moves any profile to a domain profile) on loadstate and any accounts that don’t exist on the domain will cause USMT to fail. I have decided not to exclude users that...

BITS is a bit..ch

I found a really good blog about troubleshooting SCCM and BITS downloads http://iboyd.net/index.php/2009/01/09/troubleshooting-sccm-and-bits-downloads/ If you are having trouble with certain packages downloading, a good log to look at is the latest .log file in C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1\ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943891 lists all the error codes.. One issue I was having was deploying a program that had a folder \bin: 2010-03-22 04:37:30 130.194.3.4 HEAD /SMS_DP_SMSPKGE$/BU1000BA/bin/VMware-viclient.exe...
