Microsoft is providing documentation for ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 in three downloadable formats: .CHM, DOCX, and PDF. You get to choose your own, preferred file format to carry around with you. Downloadable docs are great for carrying around on a mobile device or tablet, providing a better reading experience than utilizing the online docs. However, keep in mind that the downloadable docs are not always up-to-date. Released on February 15, 2013, the docs were actually updated on February 1st, 2013, so you can see there is a sort of lag in releasing the downloadable docs. The priority will always be the online versions.
We talked about this before. No matter how convenient it is that Microsoft is updating the docs for you, you can always create your own docs using a few different methods and plugins. Take a look through the following content to get some ideas…
- Create your own custom TechNet Guide
- “Send to Kindle” browser component works extremely well
