IBM releases an inventory tool for ConfigMgr 2007 and 2012

IBM Inventory Tool for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Version 1.0 allows SCCM to collect IBM specific hardware inventory of IBM system x or x86 Blade servers, so administrators can view these IBM specific hardware inventory information in SCCM environment.

Key features include:

  • Support of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007/2012
  • Automatically create IBM Inventory Tool Client as SCCM software distribution package
  • Automatically add IBM Inventory Classes to SCCM server

    If IBM just registered their apps in Add/Remove, rather than having their own specialized installer/XML file, this wouldn’t be necessary. We had to create this years ago – a custom app to run to create WMI class for SCCM to pick up.

      That’s interesting. We must use TAD4D inventory tool to look for IBM junkware as Rational Software Architect, Data Studio, Rational Developer for Power Systems,… because SCCM can’t see this.
