myITforum's Free Tool Friday: Click-click-click…Code

For our Free Tool Friday this week, we’re actually taking a step back by a couple days to re-highlight something exposed recently.  Since the tool was released and announced, there’s been quite a buzz about it heard around tech world.  So…why not highlight it again, in case you missed it the first time.

Microsoft recently released WMI Code Creator v1.0, which gives you the ability to quickly generate code in VBScript, C#, or VB .NET that connects to and utilizes WMI.  But, not just what you’ve been used to in the past, where you could query WMI for stored values. No, WMI Code Creator v1.0 goes a step further, allowing you to create code that actually DOES things.  One example is to solicit the Win32_Process class to execute any application on a computer.  Too neat!

One unfortunate thing, as you may have already noted from reading the previous paragraph – it does not yet generate PowerShell scripts.  Here’s hoping that’s on the roadmap for a future release.
