Since July, 2011 Microsoft averaged over 500,000 takedown requests per month. Takedown request are initiated when a company asks Google to remove (or block a) link to copyrighted material owned by the requesting company. Believe it or not, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) averaged around the same number of requests for the entire time (between July 2011 and May 2012).
