How you say or write System Center Configuration Manager has always been a point of contention, particularly with Microsoft. Enough so that the folks at Microsoft once put together a song about the proper way to promote ConfigMgr in docs and in marketing.
To the tune of the Mickey Mouse Club theme…
What’s the product name that we’ve been told by marketing?
C-O-N-F-I-G M-G-R! we sing.
What’s the only short name we should ever be using?
C-O-N-F-I-G M-G-R! we sing.
It’s not “scum” (It’s not SCCM!)
It’s not sick ‘em (It’s not SCCM!)
Forever let us shorten properly!
Hey there, hi there, ho there it’s a trademark thing, it’s true
C-O-N-F-I-G M-G-R! Thank you!
Even now, with the release of the entire System Center 2012 suite, Microsoft has rebranded the taxonomy for each product name. For example, the proper way for ConfigMgr would be Microsoft System Center 2012 – Configuration Manager. But, what do you use? I’ve already heard it spoken many different ways.
