What Wally Said: Native mode in ConfigMgr 2012

Continuing in our “What Wally Said…” series, here’s another question posed to Wally Mead during his SCCM Guru webcast in December 2011.

Question:  I would like to ask a question regarding transitioning to Native Mode. What is the most significant or primary hurdle to moving to native mode?

Wally: Native mode goes away in ConfigMgr 2012. It is a much easier configuration now. You can have a single site that supports clients communicating over HTTP as well as HTTPS. So no longer do all clients require PKI, only those that need it. The rest can be non-PKI, and use HTTP. You would designate this during site setup (or post install), and then on each appropriate site system role. The doc link is: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/gg712701.aspx.
