MOM alerts can be forwarded to the message master

® Enterprise Alert 2007 Product Connector manually

by assigning the resolution state to “message

master® Enterprise Alert 2007” or automatically

through an Event Rule in MOM.

The connector retrieves alerts as new alerts and will

acknowledge the successful forwarding to message

master® Enterprise Alert 2007 in the alert history of

MOM. The Product Connector transmits alert as new

events to the event filter of message master® Enterprise

Alert 2007. If an according filter exists and

matches, a new ticket will be initiated and new alert

status is sent back to MOM.

All status updates of this ticket, e.g. message delivery,

will be automatically sent back to MOM. Examples for

alert updates are the initiation of the ticket or when

someone has accepted or closed the ticket. The notification

to be sent when alert processing takes place in

message master® Enterprise Alert 2007 can be configured

in the alert processing settings.

Events and alerts in Operations Manager 2007 are

automatically forwarded to the message master®

Enterprise Alert 2007 Product Connector (via a web

servcie in the background) in case a so-called

subscription was created in OpsManager. The

forwarded events and alerts are very detailed and

include information like the number of occurance, etc.

The moment an event arrives in message master®

Enterprise Alert 2007 it is evaluated by the filter

system. In case the conditions of an existing filter

apply the filter rule is executed, e.g. creating a ticket,

submitting a simple notification via SMS or a voice

call. The event ID of OpsManager is mapped to the

internal ticket in message master® Enterprise Alert

2007.

If then for instance a ticket is resolved and closed,

message master® Enterprise Alert 2007 can

automatically update the alert status in Operations

Manager 2007.

Troubleshooting Agentless Exception Monitoring (AEM) and Desktop Error Monitoring (DEM) features

Agentless Exception Monitoring (AEM) of System Center Operations Manager and System Center Desktop Error Monitoring (DEM) are identical features with the only difference being that AEM is shipped with Operations Manager 2007 and DEM is shipped with Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) SKU’s. These features leverage the Microsoft Error Reporting (formerly known as Dr. Watson) or Windows Error Reporting client applications for reporting the crash or hang. These client applications are shipped with default settings to forward the Error reports to Microsoft Error Reporting Service. Using DEM, they can be configured to forward the Error reports to DEM or Operations Manager Server. The attached document describes the steps you need to take to ensure that the Microsoft Error Reporting and Windows Error Reporting are configured correctly. I would like to thank Vishwa for spending time walking me through all the steps to troubleshoot the "DEM" thing :)
