As a point of clarification, database collation as stated in the current documentation http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682077.aspx#BKMK_SupConfigSQLDBconfig):-
|Configuration ||More information |
Use the following guidance for the SQL Server database collation at each site:
- To support database replication in a hierarchy with mixed site server operating system languages, the instance of SQL Server in use at each site must use the following collation: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.
Would lead you to believe that other database collations are acceptable for ConfigMgr installations where replication is not involved.
This documentation will be updated in final form to state that Collation SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS is the ONLY supported collation for replicated and non replicated scenarios, regardless of OS language or number of sites involved.
The only exception to the above; if you are installing ConfigMgr with Chinese GB18030 support the collation will be different.
