Napkin PC Concept Utilizes Multi-Touch E-Paper Display and RF Technology We have all doodled an idea or a bit of important information on a napkin at one point or another, but designer Avery Holleman takes it a step further with the Napkin PC. The device is intended to help creative groups collaborate on designs more effectively. Here's how it works: data is sent to the multi-touch e-paper "napkin" interface via the pen using short range radio frequency (RF). The pen and the napkin...

These are Vista sidebar gadgets that display NFL stats and headlines, hence Cool Tools for a Sunday... The top one displays headlines for different sports type like football, baseball, soccer, so on. The middle one is specific to football, and you select your favorite team and it will display the latest headlines for that team, and then the bottom one is a gadget that displays the current or final score for your selected team. I gotta say this looks a LOT like my Treo 750 with SBP today plugin and a couple more other their apps. While I can't flick me finger to scroll the screen I can use my finger to scroll and open. Not that this isn't a great looking phone! HTC Unveils iPhone Competitor HTC unveiled its hinted-at iPhone competitor (I even talked about it in my video blog last week), the HTC Touch . The Touch is a Windows Mobile device with a touchscreen, fewer buttons, and a gesture-based UI overlaid on Windows...

This is much cheaper than the alternatives I have seen such as iGo, it does rely on you having a power source where the iGo plugs into your power source, but either one requires power. This is much cheaper than the iGo and is one less thing to carry well. When I was over in the UK I was charging my phone in my hotel room, but had to charge it in the bathroom because the shaver outlet was the only one that would fit my chargers plug type, the converter I got would not accept the Treo 750's charger...

Yes the rumors are true I do own a Nano BUT - it is only because I run, most of you have seen me in person by now (my wife and kids think I am some kind of celebrity after MMS!), running is about the only sport I could do when I was in High School, and I really enjoy the solitude. So I have the Nano and the Nike + Training kit for when I run, and I use it at the gym. I also own a old Rio that has a hard time staying on, an iRiver 512MB, and I will soon own a Creative Zen Vision W 60GB , hopefully...

My son and I were talking about this yesterday, I wonder if he heard something at school. I have to agree with the comments below, why would I want a touchscreen anything that I have to move more than just my fingers to use? I don't want to have to reach to type when I can just tap with my fingers, same with a mouse, and certainly not a TV. Analyst: Apple's Multitouch Launching a "Mega-Platform" Analyst Ben Reitzes from UBS predicts that Apple's multi-touch display technology, as seen on the upcoming...

No, SanDisk's latest offering in the ever-populating SSD realm is far from the largest , but just a tick after releasing a 1.8-inch edition , now the firm is unveiling a laptop (and external enclosure) friendly 2.5-inch flavor. The SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5-inch is touted as a "drop-in replacement for the hard disk drive," and also boasts the durability that purportedly comes with being a fifth-generation product. Additionally, the NAND-based drive features a sustained read rate of 67-megabytes per...

According to Crunchgear the Zune phone is on the way to combat the iPhone. While this is not confirmed by any other source as they put it "This information is as definite as tips," sure. Not to sound like a skeptic but how many times have we been burned by unconfirmed rumors? (emphasis mine) Source . "We’ve just received a sound tip that Microsoft is working on its very own phone to be branded under the Zune moniker. Our tipsters inform us that Microsoft execs are in meetings today hammering out...

For the older, Treo's (like your Stephen) you can now get direct push from Exchange to your Treo. Read on for more details. Source "Palm, Inc. is releasing the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Update for Palm OS devices for the Palm Treo 680 and Treo 700p smartphones. Those Palm OS based Treo smartphones have long been able to use Exchange ActiveSync to access Microsoft Exchange Server information using Palm’s VersaMail email client, but the new update enhances VersaMail by adding Microsoft’s Direct...

That's right, not VNC, not Remote Desktop, a TV remote. I love this site and just came across is last week, Cool Toys is favorite of mine too. But instrucables had a contest over the holidays for the best build it at home gifts, they are all outstanding but this one relates to computers and it is cheap! cnet has announced their top picks for CES 2007 . The best in show went to a dual format DVD player from LG . They figure if no one can decide on a format then they will make a player that will play both, and for the small price of $1,200 you can sit in your own home and watch movies in 1080p. Not really sure why this got best in show, but I am not a movie type of person. The people voted, and their choice was Ford Sync by Microsoft . This is a flash memory based voice control system for your cell...

Convert YouTube videos for Zune with ZuneIEPlugin Zune Thoughts mentioned this IE plugin that adds a one-button file converter to your browser with a single purpose: convert .flv files to Zune compatible .wmv files. .flv files are typically used by YouTube and Google Video , so this could come in handy to carry those videos on your Zune. I ran the quick install this morning on IE 7 within Vista and hit up our YouTube channel for the shortest video (our "iTunes movies on a UMPC" production). I clicked...

For those that have met me, I don’t have a lot of insulation, see my mug shot on the right. Several of the offices I have had over the years have also had others that were not as insulation challenged as I. And since temperature control is not an office by office feature I have had, I would usually end up losing the argument on the thermostat based on shear numbers. Compound that with the fact that I click and type for a living, sitting at my desk with my arms extended away from any bodily...
