You would think from my recent posts that I am having a horrible couple of weeks but I swear I am not! Other than the recent hate mail I have received from some of the SMS list subscribers that has caused me to unsubscribe from the list and a couple isolated incidents the last couple weeks have been great! My flight back from the UK being one of the worst, but I won't go into that...But this post is great news! Yesterday I signed up for DirecTV for my new house! We move in on the 18th and I have a 1Mb up/12Mb down Internet connection scheduled to be installed on the same day and DirecTV to also be installed. I got a pretty decent deal, free installation, 3 boxes, one HD DVR, one DVR, and one regular box, HD service, 195 channels, three free months of some movie channels (obviously I don't care about them), and most important the NFL Sunday Ticket! Did you hear that TWC? Not only do I get the NFL Network as part of my normal package but I get also get to watch any football game I want each week, and guess what??? It is cheaper that what I pay now for less channels and no NFL Network and only what Fox and CBS decide to show me! And I wonder why they can't seem to keep customers? If you are a new reader to my blog this disdain I feel for Time Warner may be shocking to you but believe me this hate runs very deep and is chronicled on my blog. But that is all over now! Bye Bye Time Waster! Hello DirecTV!
The deal I got comes out to $69/month and $300 up front, but I also have a $100 rebate coming after my first bill. I also get a free portable DVD player - so don't be surprised when one of you get this for Christmas or it ends up being in MIF the monthly drawing. There are some other deals out there that get you a free iPod Shuffle and some other stuff but I found the deal on the DirecTV site to be the best deal, and as always I use my AMEX card - just in case.
DirecTV also has highspeed Internet, and DirecTV Sat-Go which if you are into TV and travel as much as I do you might be interested in it. The highspeed Internet looks to piggy back off Verizon, Bell South, Qwest, Earthlink, and WildBlue.
And Ron - you better have HD soon or we are going to have to revoke your LCD TV privileges...
Regards,
Anthony
