Why I Hate Movies

May 27, 2007

Some of you that know me know that I hate movies.  I think they are a waist of time, are far too predictable, they are all the same stories retold, going to see a movie is far too expensive, their are annoying, rude people that surround you, the chairs are uncomfortable compared to mine at home, and so on.  I was in LA last week at the Microsoft office doing a training event and got home on Thursday night.  On Friday it was my daughters last day in first grade so the wife and I packed up the semi-homemade cup cakes and drove up to the school, we handed out the cup cakes, talked with all the other parents and then came home.  My wife had rented some movies as they all love movies and she put in a movie.  I was a little tiered from the trips and didn't have a whole lot to do so we sat on the couch and watched the movie.  It was a cop/mobster movie called Departed (If you don't want to know the ending you should stop reading).  It has Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, that guy from Titanic...Leonardo something.  That's a great cast right?  I love Good Will Hunting, and Jack Nicholson, I sat through Titanic once...and it is cops and mob guys.  So I watch it, at one point my wife had to leave for something but by this time I am all into it and it is a little over the top but I am laying on the couch now and I want to see how it ends.  I won't get into the details of the movie but it turns out one of them is a mole for the mob while the other is a undercover cop inside the mob, and Jack is the boss pulling the strings of the mole and eventually they have to hunt down the rat inside the cops and the mob.  People get killed, they both almost get found out, they have sex with the same girl...typical stuff but how does it end....I know Garth is really into movies as well as some of the other MIF regulars and if they have seen this movie they will agree with me here.  This movie has the dumbest ending of any movie I have seen, not only was it anti-climatic but it was stupid and left me feeling like I had once again just wasted two and half hours of my life.  I was honestly pissed off.  I hate movies, what a waist...

On Yahoo! this movie is rated an A- by critics and a B+ by users, I give it an F-

Anthony
