WSUS 3.0 ACT 5.0 and PSexec
Today the release candidates of WSUS 3.0 and ACT 5.0 went live.
WSUS 3.0 incorporates a new MMC facelift along with new features including better reporting and filtering. It also promised greater performance and reliability along with better remote office deployment options and more content from Microsoft Update. You still have to go to connect to download WSUS 3.0
The Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) enables software developers, independent software vendors (ISVs), and IT professionals who work in a corporate environment to determine, before rolling out within the organization, whether their applications are compatible with a new version of the Microsoft® Windows® operating system. ACT also enables such individuals to determine how an update to the new version will impact their applications.
You can use the ACT features to:
- Verify an application's compatibility with a new version of the Windows operating system, or a Windows Update, including determining your risk assessment.
- Become involved in the ACT Community, including sharing your risk assessment with other ACT users.
- Test your Web applications and Web sites for compatibility with new releases and security updates to the Windows® Internet Explorer® Internet browser.
ACT 5.0 is available here. Also the ACT 5.0 Product Evaluation Guide is available if you are new to ACT and to test your computer for Vista readiness try this Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor 1.0.
The new version of PSexec give you more control over the -i switch which allows you to spawn a process in a specific session as well as the -l switch that integrates Vista's low integrity mode.
