Finally! How to Keep Your Hands Warm at Your Desk!

December 20, 2006

For those that have met me, I don’t have a lot of insulation, see my mug shot on the right.  Several of the offices I have had over the years have also had others that were not as insulation challenged as I.  And since temperature control is not an office by office feature I have had, I would usually end up losing the argument on the thermostat based on shear numbers.  Compound that with the fact that I click and type for a living, sitting at my desk with my arms extended away from any bodily heat source does not help matters.  So during the winter months my hands would often be freezing!  To the point where I would stop doing what I was doing and sit on them to get them warm.  I have a small space heater with a thermostat and it rotates, which as Jason points out below is okay for the lower half of me, but does little for my hands.  Well, it looks like Sharper Image has come out with a desktop heater for the top half of me.  But since I am leaving this office for a home office in 11 days, I think I will save my $40, I almost always win the thermostat war at home.

Desk Heater Warms Badly Circulated Extremities

spaceheater.jpgWe've always been cursed with cold hands and feet, probably because we sit at our desks for 15 hours a day. A space heater and sock combination will protect our feet (somewhat), but what about our hands? Thanks to the "World's Smallest Big Heater" from Sharper image, that's no longer a problem.

The heater is a compact 150-watt space heater that fits nicely onto your desk, and has a high, low, and even fan mode for summer days as well. Better yet, it's only $39, has a neat blue ring, and turns off by itself when you flail around wildly to the Numa Numa song and accidentally knock it over.
