My New Cell Phone - Chocolate....Mmmmm
Here is SoCal Verizon, by far, has the best coverage and for those who attended MMS this year you probably learned that Cingular/at&t have the worst, T-Mobile works well, Sprint/Nextel is getting better but depending on where you live and work you may get spotty coverage with them. I have had at&t, Verizon, and T-Mobile and Verizon works the best with T-Mobile a close second. But as is always the case the phone itself makes a big difference in your reception.
I am also horrible at getting lost, it is almost guaranteed that if you don’t print me out a map that I will get lost the first time I go anywhere. I use mapping software so much that I should work for a company that makes mapping software, oh wait….I do, forget that last part.
I am also constantly listening to books, I like to read, and most people that know me don’t like to borrow my books because I write in them soo much. There are no such things as margins in my books, I use it all up. Unless I don’t care for the book, but even then I write things like, “not true” or “bs” but my reading style is that I read each and every word. I didn’t know it until a few years ago that most people kind of skim when they read silently. But because I read each and every word it takes me a while to read, longer than the average person, and then when you combine the amount of time I spend writing in the book it takes even longer! So I love audio books, I don’t have to “read” them, and I can use OneNote to take notes if I like, sometimes I will just open a blank email and use it and send it off when I am done.
I also use my mp3 player when I go to the gym, the beach, at my desk, and early in the morning. So when my wife wanted my son to have his own cell phone I looked at my old unlocked T-Mobile phone and figured I would let him use it as a prepaid phone. Well after going to the T-Mobile store, Target, and talking with customer service I found out that what they really wanted was for me to buy one of their packages, the guy at Target suggested I buy their cheapest phone get the SIM from it and use it in my old T-Mobile phone. Without the new SIM I could not use it as a prepaid phone, even though it has
a T-Mobile SIM in it. So we went across the parking lot to the Verizon store to see what they had for prepaid. I then learned that Verizon does not really care about prepaid, they have so many fees and restrictions that it is more expensive than just paying the $9.99 for another line, so that is what I did. My son got my old phone and I bought the new Chocolate – Thanks Honey!
I had been looking at it for a while and mentioned it to my wife so it was not a big leap to make the choice. It does GPS and it is an MP3 player, it also takes pictures, lets me browse the web, has Bluetooth, etc. I won’t go into all the details. I was going to get one of the PDA phones but with my laptop and my tablet I figured why? This would keep me from getting lost and having to buy a GPS system for $500, let me get rid of carrying my mp3 player with me and having to constantly recharge my battery, and it’s a phone. So I carry less devices!!! That is a huge plus with me. I don’t like to have anything hanging off my belt so my phones go into my pants pockets. So now I can listen to my books or music anywhere I go, I don’t have to worry about getting lost, it’s got a much better camera than my old phone and it has BT. Sold!
