This session’s presenter was Rodney Jackson, this session is where they review common support issues and their solutions followed by a Q&A sessions where customers can ask support related questions.
I will cover some of the tools he talked about since myITforum.com has most of the areas he discussed covered in the forums. (You can get these tools from your TAM or Microsoft Support)
SMS Client Health Collections – If you have not seen or used this tool it will build collections based on queries of the clients, like last DDR, HWINV, can they see notepad.exe. If you don’t have this installed then you should, I have it installed and use it to look at the state of my clients before I roll out a new package. It helps identify client problems early on.
Kerbtray.exe – This is used to diagnose problems related to Kerberos. For example, you cannot access files stored on a remote server to update a package even though you have all the rights set correctly.
Boundaries.exe – This tool will check AD for duplicate subnets and generate a report.
WMIDiags.vbs – This tool came out a few months ago. It is used to diagnose WMI problems on the client, it cannot be run remotely however, at least not out of the box…psexec..hint…hint…for each object in…
That was all of the tools discussed in this session.
