Lots of ways to dynamically install apps during the TS, just working with the OU stuff makes it tricky...

Using AD group membership, or installing based upon previous inventory, those examples are out there and aren't too hard to configure...

Hello Al,

Thanks for the info. I did just run across the Deployment Guys article and it looks to be the best solution for me. I think I can tweak it to my needs. I have been trying to get dsquery / dsget to work at a command prompt to somehow pull the OU info however I think the Deployment Guys have a better solution. I really want to install my apps as part of the TS.

Hi Sandy, for resources already discovered and assigned, you can get that AD OU (and other) info... and create a query-based collection from the results of AD system group discovery

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc181248.aspx

And then perhaps modify the collection settings to include a collection variable to use in the TS? Maybe not the most efficent way to transfer the OU in a TS variable.

On a related note, the Deployment Guys have a nice article based on AD group membership... you can likely take a similar approach but your "Run Command Line” action can discover the OU

I want to install an application based on a computer’s Active Directory container OU. I’ve got a Task Sequence computer Refresh scenario to install Windows 7 on existing Windows XP systems in our Active Directory.

I thought I could query the systems, either before installing the OS or after, for their OU membership but I just can’t find the right way to do this. Could I configure the Preinstall / Gather Local to pull the OU information for later  use as, say, a Task Sequence variable?
