I was able to resolve the issue I was having.

Background:
1 Central Site Server with SQL located on-the-box
1 Reporting point server with IIS installed

Added reporting point role to reporting point server.

Open http:\\server\smsreporting_sitecode
Received error:  Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.

on Database server, application log shows error for "FAILURE AUDIT" - Event ID 18456 - Description: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. [CLIENT: <rp server IP address>]

Solution:
Create a service account.
On the Database server, Grant the service account a login to the site database
Give it the "Public" "server role"
Go to User Mapping, select the check box next to your SMS database and assign the "Database Role membership for: SMS_SiteCode" to Public AND smsdbrole_RP.

On the reporting point server, open Start > Run  and type in services.msc
Right-click on the service "SMS_REPORTING_POINT".
Click on the log on tab and change the logon to use your newly created service account.
Restart SMS_REPORTING_POINT Service

This resolved the issues I had with the error: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.

Hope someone may find this useful.

And, failing that, check that your SQL Server has properly registered SPN's in AD.

Is the remote reporting point server's computer account in the SMS_SiteServerToSiteSystemConnection_SITECODE group on the primary site server?

Subject: [mssms] Remote reporting point issue

I've setup a reporting point for SCCM on a separate server.

I have used the default configuration as documented from Microsoft for configuring this reporting point (right-click, install reporting point, make sure it has webdav and asp).

When I go to access the reports for SCCM through the reporting point's website, I receive the following error:

An error occurred when the report was run. The details are as follows:

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.

Error Number:

-2147217843

Source:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server

Native Error:

18456

I look at the central site server, where the SQL database is located and see, in the event viewer, under the application log:

Event ID 18456

Type Failure Aud

Source MSSQLSERVER

Computer CentralSiteServer

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. [CLIENT: <IP Address of reporting point here>]

I haven't been able to determine what, exactly, is going on and where I'm missing security rights.  It seems that I may need a service account setup for the reporting point to access SQL, but don't know where to set it up and can't find documentation on this.

SQL is running with a service account.

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Nick-
