I have never installed reporting services remotely storing the DB on a named instance of SQL Server.  I can say if you have reporting services installed it the reports will connect to a named instance of SQL for the data source.  This works without a doubt as we do this here.  I don’t have a server to test this with or I would.  Give it a shot and see what happens.   Worst case you have to install again.

For the reporting services database?

I see a few references on the web about not using a named instance with remote SQL reporting services point. Can anyone either confirm or deny that it is an issue?

TIA,

Todd
