Correct as you state, from SMS 2003 to SCCM upgrade, reason its currently there, its not required if your using WSUS, we no longer have that package, the ITMU collections still exist, just havnt got round to deleting them yet.

Is this pacakage really required “Microsft Updates Tool Package” ?
SCCM uses WSUS for software updates and windows update agent. I recalled and found that this package was existing in my console because I upgraded from SMS 2003.If it is required then I shall do the install.
Any suggestion would help

You should be able to reinstall/repair it.(I think)
Source is "SMSITMU.msi" on the SP1 CD location \SMSSETUP\SUMSCANTOOLS\I386

HI All,
Is there any way that I can recreate the “Microsof Update Tool Pacakge” and Windows Update packages that get created automatically when SCCM SP1 is installed?.
Also can you lt me know where does it take the source directory from by default ?
Thanks
