Still no dice... It eventually crashes with error 0x800705b4

LocationServices.log is attached, and the SLP is not found.
What other logs should I be looking at?

If I disable the Software Updates task, the TS continues and installs Software normally.

I'm going to run it once more, set back to joining the domain instead of Workgroup, to make sure Updates still works that way, like I think it is.

Thanks.

If you have added the "SMSSLP=SLPSERVER" parameter to the client installation parameter in the "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr client" step and it still isn't working, it sounds like your SLP isn't functional.  Can you try to query it?  You can use a browser and try something like:

http://SLPSERVER/SMS_SLP/slp.dll?site&ir=10.1.1.1&ip=10.1.1.0

where "SLPSERVER" is your server name, the value after "ir" is the IP address of a client, and the value after "ip" is the IP subnet of the client.  (This would be the IP address AND'd with the mask, e.g. 10.1.1.1 AND 255.255.255.0 = 10.1.1.0.)  The response should be the site code for the client, given that IP and subnet.

I'm having the same exact issue with the updates. It's been bugging me all morning. Let me know if you find a solution and I'll do the same if I figure out what is going on.

Subject: [mssms] CM2007 R2 MDT Build/Capture - Software Updates still time out

Hi,

I'm finally able to devote myself to building a new CM 2007 R2/MDT image and I've made great leaps and bounds but am stuck again...

General (stupid?) question: how does one review logs like smsts.log in PE when they are still "in use" by the TS? I know I've been able to at some points in the past, but lately when I get stuck on something I can't always access the logs I want to see. Do you just kill all the TS processes after the TS errors out?

Specific question: I know I have network connectivity (ipconfig/ping) and client/server communication (Install Software tasks work OK), but I can only get Software Updates to install on my reference image if I set the Site Code and join the domain. I have smsslp and smsmp specified in the setup properties (tried with FQDN and with short name), and Software Updates were still timing out until I specified the Site Code and set it to join the domain. That would be OK with me, but then sysprep fails at capture, I think because of our complex password requirement from Group Policy, so I guess I need to get it working with joining a Workgroup. The only other chatter I can find about this issue is the need to set smsslp and smsmp... what else could I have messed up?

Thanks.
