Depending on the OS you selected for your Guest, you have two choices of NIC, an AMD PCNet and an E1000.

If you choose Vista/Server 2008 it will default to E1000 and the drivers are already available in the install source so no additional NIC drivers are necessary.   Otherwise, import the AMD PCNet NIC driver (which you can obtain from a VMware Tools install on another guest) into your WinPE media and/or OS image and you're good to go.

Try using the legacy network adapter (if such a thing exists in Vmware)…I know when booting from WPE on Hyper-V, you have to do this.

OK I'm coming back around at this I got a little side tracked. I failed to mention in here that it is a 64 Bit VM. I believe it uses an intel NIC. Does any one know what driver will work here?

Should be updated ones on VMWare site somewhere I believe, think the RTM ones will not work with Vista/PE.

Happy new year to all,

Has any one been able to get the nic working in the PE for Vmware ESX server?

I can't get it to work with the drivers that come with the Vmware tools.
