If you are monitoring a 32 bit app like SCCM running on 64 bit OS, you will need to manually deploy the 32 bit Operations Manager agent to the box. Apparently there are problems monitoring a 32 bit application using the 64 bit Operations Manager Agent. By default the 64 bit Operations Manager Agent will be deployed to the 64 bit OS if you deploy using the Operations Manager console.

This weekend there was a discussion in the myitforum mom email list about trouble shooting Operations Manager 2007 agents that are greyed out. The specific problem from the email list was due to an SPN issue whos remedy was found at this url (http://www2.wolzak.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=2)
Well yesterday I found another issue that can cause all your agents to be greyed out. If the DNS record for the Operations Manager server is set to the incorrect IP Address. This isn't a problem that should normally come up but I decided to throw it out here so this could be an additional item to check for in your trouble shooting bag of tricks.
Happy Trouble shooting!
