Dudeworks' Inventory Manager 2007
There may soon be no more reason for a mofmaster. I may need to give up the coolest email address I've ever had. Once people see the ease of use of http://www.dudeworks.com 's new product, Inventory Manager 2007 (for both ConfigMgr 2007 & SMS 2003); I'll be out of job in no time.
Check it out. Take any default installation of SMS, install Inventory Manager on the Primary Central server, and add custom reg keys, enable default classes, and add any WMI class/instance in a few mouse clicks. Done. What used to take hours of checking wbemtest or WMI object browser; verifying MOF file syntax, now can take just a few minutes. As a bonus, it is almost impossible to mess up. Although I'm sure someone, somehow, will find a way to do so--there's always some angle no one ever thought of that'll break it! We are an enterprising bunch.
