If you’re not aware, we’ve been working feverishly to release myITforum.com 3.0. The new site provides a huge number of features that we’ve envisioned since the very beginning, but are now able to make available. One of those features is a full-featured User Group management system. We’ve been testing with a couple User Groups and are now ready to roll this out to all User Groups.

Here’s an example of the NEASMSUG page:

The new hosted UG pages give you the ability to create user group member-only areas, upload meeting collateral, build a notification system (email or web site) for your users, post photos from your meetings and full management of your events through our new event management system.

It’s easy to get started. Just create a user account on the new site, and then head to the Groups page.

Click “Create a Group” and a wizard will walk you through the creation of the group.

Even if you host your User Group pages elsewhere, this is a great way to include the ability to notify your users of upcoming events, and reach the largest audience possible.

Vendors – communicate directly with User Group leaders to organize sponsorships of meetings, demos, and visits.

MN System Center User Group July 2011 Meeting

Our next MN System Center User Group meeting will be Wednesday, July 20th at 5:00pm at Microsoft's Bloomington HQ. Food and drinks will be provided by Benchmark Learning starting at 4:30pm.

We were hoping to get Lu Patrick to do some PowerShell for SCCM, but that can't happen this month. So then we thought about just making both sessions one big round table. But Microsoft's Tim Benjamin offered to step up and show us a little Opalis. So the 2nd 1/2 of the session will be our round table of questions and answers.

We are on a mission this year to help start user groups around the U.S. We are currently involved in getting something going for North Carolina – details will be forthcoming. In fact, there has been enough interest in a couple different places that we may see 2 user groups out of this endeavor. More to come.

Our next area of interest is the San Diego area. If you are in the San Diego area and participating in a user group there interests you, drop me a note through email.

It’s quite short – just eleven questions for user group members, but it’s only open until the end of February.
