The new site provides a huge number of features that we’ve envisioned since the very beginning, but are now able to make available. One of those features is a full-featured User Group management system. We’ve been testing with a couple User Groups and are now ready to roll this out to all User Groups.

Here’s an example of the NEASMSUG page:

http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/groups/new-england-area-sms-user-group-neasmsug/

The new hosted UG pages give you the ability to create user group member-only areas, upload meeting collateral, build a notification system (email or web site) for your users, post photos from your meetings and full management of your events through our new event management system.

It’s easy to get started. Just create a user account on the new site, and then head to the Groups page.

http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/groups/

Click “Create a Group” and a wizard will walk you through the creation of the group.

Even if you host your User Group pages elsewhere, this is a great way to include the ability to notify your users of upcoming events, and reach the largest audience possible.

Vendors – communicate directly with User Group leaders to organize sponsorships of meetings, demos, and visits.

Atlanta Systems Management User Group Meeting for October 2011

Food and drinks will be provided by Benchmark Learning starting at 4:30pm.

We were hoping to get Lu Patrick to do some PowerShell for SCCM, but that can't happen this month. So then we thought about just making both sessions one big round table. But Microsoft's Tim Benjamin offered to step up and show us a little Opalis. So the 2nd 1/2 of the session will be our round table of questions and answers.

As always, to help with the food and drink count, we ask that you register for the event at ClicktoAttend. To help them do this, we are requesting that you complete the survey you will find at http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22BSJ28JHPT/.

It’s quite short – just eleven questions for user group members, but it’s only open until the end of February. It is extremely important to your user group – not only does it tell Microsoft how they are doing and what they should be focusing on, it also helps those responsible for community support inside Microsoft to justify the costs of the UGSS program including the funding they provide directly to the community. Once the survey is closed and they have had time to process the results, they are going to make the findings available for us to review and comment on.

User Group members do not have to register at http://www.usergroupsupportservices.com to complete the survey, but if they do and complete the survey, they can enter a sweepstakes to win one of fifty TechNet Professional (NFR) subscriptions at no cost, subject to the rules you can find at https://www.technicalcommunity.com/InfoCenter/Pages/1HFY11SurveyTerms.aspx.

If you are leader, registered with UGSS and complete the survey you will be offered the opportunity to apply for a TechNet subscription for your group independent of the member sweepstakes.

Please note – your survey answers do NOT affect your chances of winning a subscription in the sweepstake. Please give Microsoft your honest and candid opinions!

Announcing the DMVMUG (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia Management User Group)

DMVMUG (District of Columbia Maryland Virginia Management User Group) is a community comprised of motivated individuals who are passionate about further learning System Center products.
