Our youngest uses a stylish piece of SWAG as his alarm clock. Its a Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 clock, given away at MMS 2008.

Since he’s been in school, we’ve not had to worry about shutting off the alarm in the mornings. The alarm wakes our son, and then it goes off in it’s own time. Being out of school for the past few days for the Thanksgiving holiday, we have come to realize that this thing does not have a Snooze button, nor any way of turning off the alarm except to remove the battery!

A SCOM (OpsMgr) Alert you CAN’T turn off! Maybe there’s a MSKB about it somewhere.

Could the MMS 2008 closing party be the inspiration for the MMS 2009 marketing graphics?

The “official” word has gone out about the MMS 2008 Hands-on Lab Walkthrough DVD

I just received an email today concerning what we’ve been chatting about for the past couple days. It’s not a secret any longer. Here it is:

Dear MMS 2008 Attendee,

We are pleased to inform you that additional collateral has been created and is being sent to you. The MMS 2008 Hands-on Lab Walkthrough DVD contains video recordings of the most popular Hands-on Lab topics offered during the event with an audio commentary, allowing you to review the labs with a step-by-step commentary explaining the key procedures covered. In addition, the DVD contains soft copies of the Hands-on Lab manuals used at the event.

This e-mail serves as confirmation that your MMS 2008 Hands-on Lab Walkthrough DVD set has been shipped and you should be receiving it within 1-2 weeks (International locations may take longer). The DVD set has been sent via the U.S. Postal Service to the address included with your registration information.

The MMS 2008 Hands-on Lab Walkthrough DVD is currently being shipped to be on-hand for purchase from the Microsoft store. It should be available there soon. I’ll let you know when it’s ready for purchase.

The “secret” MMS 2008 Hands-on Lab Walkthrough DVD

The DVD that showed up in my mailbox this weekend was a surprise to me, as it has turned out to be a surprise to others who attended MMS 2008. Apparently, it was also a surprise to some folks at Microsoft, too. Not that it showed up, but that it showed up AHEAD of schedule. Since the DVD shipped AHEAD of schedule there was no chance for a major build-up about this DVD release.

The DVD is the result of a secret project that Microsoft has been working on for a while. The DVD is a culmination of the most popular labs from MMS, with scripted manuals in the format similar to the breakout recordings.

The idea was that while not providing the full hands-on experience, it can at least provide some of the key lessons in a lab.

The benefits are that:

They can be easily shared
- No issues with massive VHD files and product licenses
They take less time to complete
- The hourglass time has been edited out
- No time wasted reading instructions
- o Some 75 minute labs take only 15 minutes to walk-through

MMS 2008 DVDS starting to trickle into the UK

Folks in the UK who attended MMS 2008 are starting to report that the DVDs are arriving. If you attended MMS 2008 and live in the UK, you should see yours soon. If you don’t see yours in the next week or so, let us know.

MMS 2008 DVD shipments to Canada and the UK are now on track

There was a short delay on the DVD shipments to Canada and the UK, but the issues there have been resolved. Those who attended MMS 2008 in Canada and the UK should be receiving shipment emails very soon (if not already).

The MMS 2008 DVD set was sitting in my mailbox today. As the saying goes: “if there’s no pictures, it didn’t happen” so here’s my pictures:

Sadly, the MMS 2008 DVD package image is still not updated on the MS Store (though you can still order it sight-unseen). Maybe, I should send them my photos to use. :)

Despite a few hiccups, MMS 2008 DVDs should ship soon

Hiccups along the way has delayed the DVDs (now a 2-disc set) somewhat. The DVDs are being duped now and are expected to begin shipping Wednesday or Thursday of next week (July 16th or 17th). An email will be sent to registrants when the DVDs have shipped so the registrants will know to expect them.

The DVD will be available via eCompanyStore as well. eCompanyStore will be receiving their stock around the same time as the attendees so DVDs should be available a short time afterwards. The following site should be updated soon with a picture of the DVD.
