The Mini-Microsoft blog is worth watching
27 September 11 11:03 AM | rodtrent | with no comments

…particularly now.

Last Friday’s company meeting brought about a lot of interesting material.

http://minimsft.blogspot.com/2011/09/friday-friday-friday-microsoft-company.html

The Mini-Microsoft blog is written by an actual, super-secret Microsoft employee, and as you can see from the comments on the blog, a lot of present and former Microsoft employees like to chime in.

Some things of note in the recent blog post:"

  • Windows Phone was dead on arrival
  • So was Azure
  • A lot of MS employees are as anti-Cloud as IT Admins

myITforum.com 3.0: Sneak Peek
23 September 11 08:57 PM | rodtrent | with no comments

You’ve been hearing us talking about it here and there, but we’re working hard to bring you the next level in System Center and Windows management community in a way that we actually envisioned from the very beginning.  The tools we wanted simply weren’t available when myITforum.com started out, but finally the tools have caught up with our vision.

Today, we pushed out a change the main myITforum.com home page, where you can access myITforum.com 3.0 right now to help us test and to get feedback.  If you look at the myITforum.com menus right now, you’ll see a link to myITforum.com 3.0 that everyone can now use to preview the new community site.

There’s still a lot to do, but there’s already a bunch of content and other things you’ll want to dig into and check out.  Feel free to create an account on the new site so you can join groups and check out some of the important downloads and even the photo galleries, like the one’s in the new Microsoft Management Community Group.

As we continue to progress on features and code, we’ll be rolling out new “How To” videos and posting information about how to view them.  You can also find all of the videos on our YouTube channel.

We’re pretty sure you’re going to love what you can actually do with the new features, but as always – please, please, please give us feedback and report any bugs you may find.

Thanks!

Good news for you and Configuration Manager Client Health!
22 September 11 02:36 PM | rodtrent | with no comments

Our recent survey on SCCM client health has generated some good value for all of you.  Not only has the survey seemed to have hit a sweet spot with SCCM admins everywhere (response has been phenomenal), but it has raised some eyebrows in the ranks of Microsoft Premiere Support.

If you haven’t participated in the survey, yet, you still can here:

myITforum.com Poll- How much time does poor SCCM Client Health cost you?

Earlier today, I had a nice, sit-down chat (over Lync) with the folks in charge of an add-on service to CMRAP (take time to read that correctly – it’s not “crap” – even though, at first glance it could be).  They have been working on some awesome stuff in the area of SCCM client health and remediation.  I was able to take a look at some monumental technologies that the group is currently working on and also has released as a product/service through Premiere Support.  I could go into a bunch more detail here and probably get into NDA issues, but I’m actually saving that for an upcoming interview with the group that I’ll also be posting here.

In the interim, they’ve allowed me to share something with you to give you a taste of what I saw today and what I’ll be covering a bit later on in the interview (and potentially also a podcast).  The System Center Client Health & Remediation Service doc has been uploaded to the Configuration Manager Group’s documents area, and you can download it from there:

I’m sure you’ll have all kinds of questions about this, so feel free to ping me in the comments here, or join myITforum.com 3.0 and send me a private or public message.
