TechEd 2011 Apps and Options for Mobile Devices #msteched

Published 05 May 11 09:18 AM | rodtrent

If you’re attending TechEd 2011 in about a week, you’ll most likely be carrying 1 of 3 devices: an iPhone, an Android phone, or a Windows Phone 7 – and most likely in that order.  There will be those, though, that are still carrying around a Palm or Blackberry.

If you want to keep TechEd 2011 on your device you have options for each device.

iPhone and iPad

UPDATE May 7, 2011: The iPhone/iPad app is now live in the iTunes store! You can read about it here:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tena2011/id435367404?mt=8

If you don’t have room for an extra app, or just simply don’t want another app installed on your device, you can use the mobile site.

UPDATE May 6th, 2011:  There is now an EventMeetup TechEd 2011 app in the iTunes store:

There is also a TechEd Events web site (which is mobile compatible) verified by jguadagno. It is located at:

Android phones and tablets

The Android app, I’ve tested myself and works great on both a small screen (phone) and also a Tablet (Xoom) – so I’ll be carrying both around at TechEd this year.

App: TechEd North America 2011 - Android Market

And, of course, if you don’t have room for an extra app, or just simply don’t want another app installed on your device, you can use the mobile site.

Windows Phone 7

Windows Phone 7 has an app!  There was one created for MMS 2011, too, but that didn’t go over well since a lot of the WP7 users at MMS couldn’t use it.  I expect that will be fixed with this app – and there may be more actual WP7 users at TechEd than there were at MMS.

UPDATE May 14, 2011 - OFFICIAL APP just released.  Read about how to get it.

3rd party App: http://wp7agile.wordpress.com/2011/04/06/odata-wp7-app-for-tech-ed-north-america-2011/

And, of course, if something happens where this app bombs, too, WP7 users can still use the mobile site.

Palm/Blackberry

I have not seen or heard of an application optimized for either of these platforms, but I suspect that the mobile optimized site may work.  If you know of an app for either of these platforms, let me know and I’ll update this post.
