The MMS 2011 Tweetup was a huge success, but it continues! #mms2011

I really could have never dreamed how many people would show up for a 9:30am get-together the morning of the conference check-in, but we had over 75 people join in for the unveiling of the MMS Twitter Army!

It was an amazing event, for sure, but the really incredible success was shown over the course of Monday.  Community output by these 75 people have increased by 10-fold over even last year.  If you watched the #mms2011 and #mmsfun Twitter hashtags today, it was completely amazing to see the flurry of quality activity.  MMS 2011 may go down in history as the “social media” year.  There has been more and better coverage of the event than ever before.  The Twitter Army is producing some of the best content ever seen for folks attending the conference, but also for those who could not attend this year.  I heard from a couple folks at during the Expo opening that their co-workers are sitting back at work watching the conference unfold, almost as if they were attending themselves.

Once again, the community has stepped up to produce something monumental.

We’re already planning some additions and changes for next year to make it even better.  So stay tuned.  One interesting thing we’re working on is to allow restaurants in the hotel access to our Twitter streams to offer discounts for meals.  That’s just one example but there’s plenty more.

To those participating in the MMS Twitter Army this year, congrats!  You folks are doing an amazing job and the event coordinators have already noticed – which means Microsoft is extremely happy about it.
