1st Annual System Center Product Community Award – and the winner is…

After all these years, you would think that we would have run this contest a long while ago.  But, with the System Center brand really coming along and other products besides SMS finally gaining traction, it was time.

We held a contest over a 3 month period for System Center community folks to vote on the System Center products that are most in use in their organizations.

The winner?  Being the longest running System Center product, the winner is entirely logical.  And, based on reported sales, it also makes sense that Configuration Manager would win out.

Here’s the list in order of customer acceptance:

1st Place:  System Center Configuration Manager

2nd Place: System Center Operations Manager

3rd Place: System Center Virtual Machine Manager

4th Place: System Center Data Protection Manager

5th Place: System Center Service Manager

6th Place: Opalis

7th Place:  System Center Essentials

8th Place:  System Center Mobile Device Manager

Some Notes…

As the System Center product suite continues to advance in the market, expect products like Opalis to jump a bit in the standings during the 2nd annual contest.  Also, based on community comments, some folks are still scratching their heads as to what Opalis actually is and what it can do.

It’s surprising how quickly System Center Service Manager has jumped ahead.

Next year, we’ll see Mobile Device Manager disappear from the list based on the integration into v.Next.

During the next contest, expect to see different versions of the System Center products in the list since products like v.Next will be released, or close to being released.
